Dr. Shah is a Board Certified Orthopedic Spine Surgeon specializing in minimally invasive and complex spine surgery. After graduating from Union College in Schenectady, NY Dr. Shah earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, NJ. Dr. Shah completed his fellowship training in orthopedic spine surgery at the prestigious University of California with emphasis on complex, deformity, minimally invasive spine surgery and robotic surgery.
Dr. Shah specializes in surgical and nonsurgical management of spinal disorders, including both the neck and back. He is well trained in minimally invasive techniques as well as advanced techniques for degenerative disease and complex surgery. His goal is to help patients reduce pain, return to normal daily activities and improve quality of life.
Dr. Shah is a prolific and active researcher and an accomplished author, with numerous research publications covering a wide range of topics in orthopaedics and spine surgery.
His expertise includes minimally invasive procedures, degenerative conditions, and complex revision spinal surgery. Nonsurgical and surgical treatment options are provided for patients in all segments of the spine for symptom improvement, with meticulous treatment plan formulations involving considerations from a 360 degree approach for short hospital stays and quick recoveries. He is focused on outpatient surgical intervention when applicable to return patients home to their families safely.
His practice at New York Spine Specialist encompasses a wide range of spinal conditions, including traumatic injuries and degenerative conditions of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. His training allows him to cater treatment options specifically to the patient and their condition. His treatment philosophy is simple: “Surgery should be the last resort. I would not recommend any treatment to a patient that I would not accept for myself, my friends, or my family.”
In his spare time, he enjoys Tennis, Bodybuilding, and is an avid traveler.
